Sougia is a seaside village known for its beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters. It is located 70 km south of Chania, in the gorge of Agia Irini.
In ancient times, Sougia was the port city of Dorian Elyros, which was one of the major urban centers in southwestern Crete, with a population of approximately 16,000 residents.
